STM Administrative Center

Project Complete
Construction of a new 5,000 m² administrative center over 5 levels. Located on rue de Marseille, in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, the facility includes administrative offices and technical spaces for metro employees. The building structure is composed of a structural concrete frame with a durable precast concrete envelope. It integrates advanced technical systems, including mobile equipment, fire safety, secure oil storage, backup generators, and complete electromechanical networks.

This 5,000 m², 5-storey building (4 of which being above ground) houses the metro’s administrative and technical staff. Its architecture, inspired by the "cowcatcher" of steam locomotives, pays tribute to the site's railway history while blending harmoniously into the Olympic District. The work included soil decontamination, installation of Berlin walls, construction of high-voltage and fiber-optic infrastructures, and the installation of water, electricity, and security networks. The complex exposed concrete structure is complemented by a precast concrete external envelope, designed to ensure a 50-year watertight seal. Particular attention was paid to insulation and thermal resistance of the envelope. The project also includes mobile equipment such as elevators and an overhead crane, as well as fire protection systems, secure oil storage, backup generators, as well as complete plumbing, electrical, access control, and HVAC networks.
