Cascades Elementary School

The new Cascades Elementary School can accommodate 425 students across 23 preschool and elementary classrooms and 2 rooms dedicated to daycare services. With a mission to create a stimulating and safe environment, the 2,790 m² school was designed to ensure the separation of walking students and drop-off areas, while fostering a unified, open, and welcoming community. The school includes several facilities, such as a double gymnasium and two outdoor yards: an elevated school park and a lower-level urban plaza-style area with an adjacent outdoor classroom. Easily accessible to local residents, this layout was designed to meet the diverse needs of its users in a sustainable and optimal way while avoiding equipment redundancy.
This school is distinguished by its large windows and high ceilings, creating spacious and bright areas. The building’s structure, composed of a conventional steel frame, is modern and incorporates exposed wood beams in the gymnasium and common area. The presence of wood brings a warm atmosphere while respecting the project’s budget. The main staircase and the bleachers in the multipurpose room were built with precast concrete, combining durability and aesthetics.
