Laval’s Municipal Court

The construction of Laval’s new Municipal Court reflects the City’s commitment to reinforce a structured, accessible, and recognizable civic hub, in continuity with City Hall and other municipal services. This 7,250 m² two-storey institutional building, with basement and mechanical lean-to, fully embodies the Ministry of Justice’s vision of security, innovation, and accessibility. The project offers an optimized functional layout including 6 courtrooms, a public hall ("salle des pas perdus"), a clerk’s office visible and easily accessible from the entrance hall, administrative areas dedicated to the judiciary and the prosecution, a secure detention area on one level, as well as a parking reserved for legal personnel.
The modern architecture favours transparency, natural light, and a strong connection with the outside environment, promoting a fluid user experience. The environmentally exemplary building is aiming for LEED v4 Silver certification, thanks to an integrated approach combining energy performance, waste reduction, sustainable water management and biodiversity preservation. The landscaped forecourt, designed in continuity with Souvenir Park, becomes a distinctive and immersive public space, offering a safe and sustainable pedestrian route. Finally, thanks to our proven expertise in collaborative project management, we have been able to work in an integrated fashion with our designers, putting forward an advanced use of BIM that will ensure we deliver a high-quality, functional, eco-responsible building that meets the customer’s requirements.

- Sustainable design
The project targets LEED v4 Silver certification. Strategies include optimizing building orientation to maximize natural light, using durable materials (wood, masonry, concrete with supplementary cementitious materials), advanced thermal insulation, intelligent energy systems, rainwater harvesting, low-flow fixtures, rigorous construction waste management, as well as the creation of green roofs and landscaped areas that promote biodiversity.
