Espace Riopelle - Pavillon Michael Audain

Under construction
Construction of a new building entirely dedicated to artist Jean‑Paul Riopelle at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

The project includes both transformations to the existing site, such as partial demolition and structural reinforcement, as well as the construction of a new three‑storey building carefully integrated into the museum complex.

The pavilion features a contemporary architectural design that emphasizes natural light, high‑quality materials, and strong connections to the surrounding landscape. Inside, the project includes:

  • permanent and temporary exhibition galleries

  • visitor and interpretation spaces

  • storage and technical areas

  • immersive environments dedicated to Riopelle’s artistic universe

The development also incorporates landscaped outdoor spaces inspired by the natural environments that influenced the artist’s work, creating a unique place where art, nature, and community converge.
