Senior Accounting Technician
The Senior Accounting Technician, under the supervision of the Finance Director, participates in the monthly reporting process for the various companies in the group and in general bookkeeping. He or she monitors the fixed asset schedule and the debt schedule, as well as managing accounts receivable (time and material projects). He or she provides support to the controller and the finance team in various ad hoc assignments, including continuous improvement projects.
Roles and responsibilities
Participate in month-end closings for several entities within the group and perform certain tasks related to general ledger accounting.
Obtain information on capital asset acquisitions and disposals from the Equipment Department; perform accounting entries related to capital assets, depreciation, and financing.
Update capital asset and debt schedules on a monthly basis.
Track billing for time and materials projects (cost+);
Validate changes to our suppliers' bank details and improve internal controls to detect potential bank fraud;
Record expense and Visa card reimbursements;
Perform monthly operational expense recharges to partnerships;
Track intercompany recharges and perform quarterly reconciliation of intercompany transactions;
Prepare ad hoc accounting and financial reports for project management;
Participate in special or continuous improvement projects with the Director of Finance and the Vice President of Finance to optimize existing financial processes;
Ensure that all asset movements (acquisitions, disposals, schedules, debts, etc.) are managed efficiently and in a timely manner;
Ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely reporting from partner companies;
Invoice time and material projects in a timely manner;
Perform all other related tasks.
Required skills
Hold a Technical Diploma or a DEC in Accounting;
Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
Experience in an accounting firm (an asset);
Have experience in the construction sector (an asset);
Be proficient in Excel reports;
Be familiar with ACUMATICA and PROCORE software (an asset);
Ability to analyze and optimize various processes;
Strong organizational and work planning skills;
Demonstrate attention to detail, rigor, and autonomy;
Good priority management skills;
Ability to work in a team.
