Estimating Intern - Building

Estimating is a key discipline in the construction industry. It requires precision, judgment, curiosity, and a comprehensive understanding of projects. It is the stage where everything begins and a solid foundation for those who aspire to one day become project managers.

The estimation intern in our building - alternative projects division is responsible for analyzing the tender documents for our public and private construction projects. They participate in the development and monitoring of the design. They ensure the proper coordination and follow-up of bids with the various subcontractors. They are responsible for preparing the various files so that they can be submitted in due form.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Analyze tender documents (all plans and specifications);

  • Conduct site and construction visits;

  • Invite subcontractors and suppliers and follow up with them;

  • Attend design and work coordination meetings. Ensure the communication of information;

  • Follow up on deliverables with architects and engineers;

  • Manage documentation via PROCORE;

  • Analyze subcontractor prices;

  • Read plans and prepare quantity surveys;

  • Participate in the costing of each bid;

  • Participate in the preparation of subcontracts;

  • Perform all other related tasks.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Enrollment in a university or college program in civil engineering, construction engineering, or architecture;

  • Completion of a first internship;

  • Ability to read plans and specifications;

  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Bluebeam, etc.);

  • Knowledge of and interest in BIM;

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously;

  • Ability to plan and organize your work while meeting deadlines;

  • Demonstrated autonomy and attention to detail;

  • Ability to work effectively in a team;

  • Good interpersonal communication skills;

  • Have good analytical and synthesis skills.
