Planner - Project Control
The person in this position stands out for their organizational skills and technical experience, which enable them to effectively support the various project teams. In coordination with project managers and directors, they will be responsible for developing and maintaining the various schedules for the ongoing projects assigned to them. The person will also play a key role in maintaining internal management processes, executing project planning, determining status and progress, and analyzing variances.
Under the supervision of the PCO and Innovations Director, the person in this position stands out for their organizational skills and technical experience, which enable them to effectively support the various project teams. As a planning expert, you will play a central role in the success of our construction projects. Your main mission will be to develop robust schedules that incorporate strategic resource management, ensuring clear visibility of labor, equipment, and materials.
Roles and responsibilities
You will need to demonstrate a high degree of technical autonomy: you will be required to translate plans and specifications into logical construction sequences without constant supervision.
Planning and Resource Management
Develop and maintain master schedules using MS Project and Primavera P6.
Logic construction: Independently define activities, durations, and logical precedence links based on analysis of contractual documents (plans, specifications).
Critical expertise: Integrate and balance resources (human and material) in schedules to ensure a realistic and optimized workload.
Establish the work breakdown structure (WBS) in collaboration with the project team.
Monitoring, Control, and Change Management
Impact Management: Integrate changes into the schedule and perform forensic analysis of the impacts (delays, costs) caused by delays, change notices, or unforeseen events on site.
Rigorously monitor progress (physical and financial) and analyze deviations from the baseline.
Produce key performance indicator (KPI) reports and progress curves (S-curves).
Identify critical paths and propose catch-up or acceleration scenarios in the event of deviations.
Actively participate in project closure and post-mortems.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
Work closely with project managers, directors, subcontractors, and clients to align implementation strategies.
Review and validate schedules submitted by partners and subcontractors.
Propose innovative control methods to improve internal project management processes.
Required skills
Hold a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field;
Have at least 3 years of experience in construction project planning and control;
Have site experience in operational construction roles such as Superintendent, Project Manager, etc.;
Have relevant experience in project planning and control;
Demonstrate methodological rigor, collaboration, and proactivity;
Have good analytical skills and excellent organizational skills;
Have excellent abilities to manage resource allocation and leveling in complex schedules;
Be proficient in MS Project and familiar with Primavera P6 and PROCORE (assets);
Have knowledge or experience in Lean planning (e.g., Last Planner System);
Have theoretical or practical knowledge of the RCPM (Resource Critical Path Method);
Experience in 4D planning with Synchro Pro;
Experience with the Earned Value Management (EVM) method.
Demonstrate complete autonomy in reading plans and developing execution strategies.
Demonstrate excellent organizational and priority management skills.
