Specialized labourers - Sewer and Water
Under the supervision of the Foreman and the Superintendent, the Specialized Sewer and Water Main Laborer will perform various daily tasks on the job site. Their role involves installing, repairing, and connecting underground drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater pipes. They work closely with the heavy equipment operator and the foreman.
Roles and responsibilities
Preparing materials, tools, and the work site;
Using lasers to ensure proper pipe slope;
Securing trenches and ensuring compliance with OHS standards;
Laying sewer and water mains in an excavation trench;
Handling pipes and manholes;
Attaching restraint systems and assembling pipes;
Participating in the preparation and cleanup of work areas;
Installing shoring systems;
Installing pumping systems;
Installing membranes;
All other related tasks.
Required skills
Hold a valid CCQ card for your occupation and a valid ASP Construction card;
Have experience in excavation work and/or sewer and water main work (a plus);
Proficient in reading plans, diagrams, drawings, and sketches;
Independence and resourcefulness;
Communication and teamwork.
