Project Director - Civil

The Project Manager in our Civil Engineering division oversees several large-scale civil construction projects simultaneously. She manages various teams and ensures smooth coordination among them, while maintaining an efficient and healthy work environment for everyone. In addition, they ensure the quality of the work from start to finish by promoting continuous improvement throughout the project, in compliance with contract specifications, budgets, and ISO standards.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Plan (from start to finish) and coordinate the project portfolio;

  • Create and monitor schedules and budgets for the project portfolio;

  • Evaluate the performance of the project portfolio and implement necessary corrective actions: scope and quality;

  • Manage and adhere to the various project contracts;

  • Ensure compliance with the project management process for all projects;

  • Supervise project teams: project manager, superintendent, foreman, site employees, etc.;

  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers;

  • Manage financial matters (claims, backcharges, opportunities, etc.);

  • Ensure compliance with project health and safety standards;

  • Manage project portfolio risks and minimize their impact: identify, assess, develop contingency plans, and ensure their implementation;

  • Demonstrate leadership to motivate and supervise project teams within the portfolio;

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders in the project portfolio;

  • Manage client relations for each project in the portfolio;

  • Work closely with general superintendents and the project management director;

  • Ensure the continuous improvement of project portfolio management operations (processes, tools, etc.);

  • Perform any other related tasks.

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in civil engineering;

  • 3–5 years of experience as a project manager;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects;

  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus;

  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications;

  • Knowledge of the PROCORE computer system;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Teamwork skills;

  • Organized;

  • Versatile;

  • Proactive.
