Health and safety coordinator

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for promoting and ensuring compliance with the various health and safety regulations on the worksite. He/she acts as advisor and trainer to site employees and subcontractors. He or she adheres to and conveys the company's principles and values, adopting a behavioral approach geared towards health and safety, the environment and sustainable development.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all the general contractor's health and safety activities on a multi-million dollar construction site;

  • Monitor the wearing of personal protective equipment and other occupational health and safety obligations by workers;

  • Administer the site welcome to new TISSSEUR workers and subcontractors with regard to health and safety;

  • Responsible for site compliance with the prevention program in force;

  • Advise and inform all site personnel on task-specific measures and risks;

  • Issue recommendations relating to site health and safety;

  • Inspect workplaces on a daily basis and ensure that employees comply with current health and safety standards;

  • Attend safety breaks;

  • Carry out daily observation reports;

  • Lead the site committee where there are more than 25 workers;

  • Participate in investigations following a workplace accident;

  • Carry out any other related tasks relating to occupational health and safety.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or vocational diploma (an asset);

  • Agent's certificate issued by the AECQ and recognized by the CNESST;

  • Knowledge of the construction industry;

  • Experience of 3 to 5 years;

  • Knowledge of the LSST and the safety code for construction work;

  • Autonomous;

  • Customer-oriented;

  • Interpersonal skills;

  • Good adaptability;

  • Conflict resolution skills;

  • Teamwork skills.
