Controller

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Controller will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all of the company's accounting activities, ensuring that they meet corporate objectives. He/she will provide support to various internal teams in addition to assisting the project accounting teams.

Roles and responsibilities

Financial reporting

  • Oversee the monthly closing of the accounting books for several entities within the group and ensure the accuracy of financial data;

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and key financial performance indicators;

  • Contribute to the improvement and development of management dashboards and performance monitoring for divisions;

  • Coordinate external audits and act as a resource person for auditors;

  • Participate in the company's budget process;

  • Support management in the implementation of various ad hoc financial projects;

  • Supervise and support the development of the team of accounting technicians;

Internal controls and process improvement

  • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and legal requirements;

  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls;

  • Develop and monitor cost allocation mechanisms by division;

  • Collaborate with accounting and operational teams to harmonize and improve administrative processes;

  • Participate in the development and optimization of the ERP to support the organization's needs;

  • Gradually develop a thorough understanding of the financial issues specific to the construction industry.

  • Perform all other related duties.

Required skills

  • Hold a university degree in accounting;

  • Hold the CPA designation;

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position or in an accounting firm;

  • Knowledge of the construction industry (a significant asset);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word);

  • Knowledge of ACUMATICA and VISION software (an asset);

  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail;

  • Structured mindset, autonomy, and ability to manage priorities well;

  • Proactive, thorough, and honest;

  • Meticulous and independent;

  • Ability to work in a team and be flexible.
