Site Foreman - Buildings
Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Site Foreman performs various carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing, installing doors, frames, and hardware, etc. He or she will be required to collaborate with various subcontractors and other trades. He or she may also be called upon to supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, carpenters, and apprentices.
Roles and responsibilities
Review plans, drawings, and sketches to determine the specifications of the work to be performed;
Ensure that the right materials, supplies, tools, and equipment necessary for the smooth progress of projects are received and prepared;
Distribute tasks according to each person's strengths, coordinate and supervise work on the job site to reduce wasted time;
Quickly identify work-related problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality;
Maintain constant communication with the superintendent regarding the progress of the site;
Establish work methods that comply with schedules and CNESST standards;
Assist with site work;
Raise employee awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment;
Train workers on their tasks, safety standards, and company policies;
In collaboration with the human resources department, perform all tasks related to staff supervision;
Ensure proper tracking of tools and materials on construction sites;
Ensure compliance with OHS on site and be familiar with the prevention program;
Participate in the site committee;
Participate in and occasionally lead safety breaks;
Follow up with the CoSS on various OHS reports;
Perform all other related tasks.
Required skills
Have 5 years of relevant experience in an employee management role;
Have experience and knowledge of institutional/commercial and industrial divisions;
Be able to manage a building construction site worth over $40 million;
Be able to analyze plans and specifications;
Hold valid CCQ and ASP competency cards;
Demonstrate autonomy and proactivity;
Have good team spirit and interpersonal communication skills.
