Health and safety advisor

Reporting to the OHS Director, the Occupational Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for coordinating health and safety activities on the construction site. She acts as an advisor and trainer for construction site employees and subcontractors. He/she adheres to and communicates the company's principles and values by adopting a behavior focused on health and safety, the environment, and sustainable development.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and company visits to clients and write inspection reports;

  • Lead or participate in various OHS meetings;

  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and analyses;

  • Provide OHS orientation for new employees;

  • Document interventions in accordance with current practices;

  • Provide guidance and advice to employees and managers on various aspects of workplace prevention;

  • Participate in the implementation of the prevention program and OHS management system;

  • Conduct joint inspections and recommend corrective measures;

  • Provide and generate statistics, reports, and recommendations on a regular basis;

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and regulations;

  • Identify employers' prevention risks and needs;

  • Participate in the development of prevention tools;

  • Participate, in collaboration with the health and safety coordinator, in planning the tasks to be performed by the team;

  • Purchase and distribute OHS equipment orders;

  • Perform all other related tasks.

Required skills

  • Hold a certificate in health and safety on construction sites issued by ASP Construction (mandatory);

  • Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable in Quebec;

  • Fluency in French (spoken and written);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;

  • Good verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work in a team and in a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment;

  • High degree of autonomy and resourcefulness;

  • Valid driver's license (mandatory) and car in good condition;

  • Get a trainer certification.
