Pre-Construction Project Manager
Under the supervision of the Pre-construction Manager, Building - Alternative Mode Division, the Pre-construction Project Manager is responsible for the management of construction projects prior to the start of work, including design development for alternative mode projects (CC,CCP, PCI, ...). He/she works closely with customers, architects, engineers and strategic subcontractors, as well as internal teams to ensure the technical and financial feasibility of the project. This position is key to ensuring smooth project progress by anticipating problems, delivering projects more efficiently and maximizing profitability.
Roles and responsibilities
A) Analysis and feasibility study
Carry out opportunity analysis to understand customer needs and project constraints;
Analyze technical, regulatory and financial aspects;
Develop a project execution plan with internal teams;
Lead the risk and opportunity analysis process.
B) Cost estimation and management
Carry out constructability analyses;
Seek innovative technical alternatives to optimize costs;
Work closely with estimating to optimize subcontractor proposals;
Identify all required consultants and draw up fee budgets.
C) Planning and coordination
Develop project schedule (review process, permits, construction, MES);
Conduct design reviews at various progress milestones;
Plan workshops and manage customer feedback;
Coordinate various studies (geotechnical, environmental, etc...);
Work with architects, engineers and other specialized consultants;
Ensure smooth transmission of information to project teams;
Organize and lead coordination meetings with consultants.
D) Regulatory compliance:
Ensure that projects comply with current standards, codes and regulations;
Implement strategies to meet sustainable development and energy efficiency requirements;
Obtain necessary authorizations and permits before work begins.
Required skills
University degree or college diploma in architecture, construction engineering or other related field;
Minimum of 3 years' project management experience;
Experience in pre-construction phases;
Membership of OIQ or OAQ (an asset);
Ability to read plans and specifications;
Knowledge of Procore, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, etc. computer systems (an asset);
Analytical and problem-solving skills; Good knowledge of construction standards and regulations;
Strong understanding of construction techniques and the specifics of alternative construction methods. (an asset);
Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills;
